Um guia para o bem-estar no JCP
Support for Children
At JCP, we believe that for our children to achieve their potential, the pastoral care we give is just as important as the academic support. We believe that supporting children’s well-being is not just something that will help them thrive during their years with us but is something that will continue to help them in the years that follow.
Sometimes, children can experience new situations, feelings, and emotions they do not always understand. This can be incredibly stressful and confusing, and it can stop them taking part in learning and fully enjoying school life.
This might make them feel bad about themselves and change their relationships with parents, teachers, and friends – which can be confusing for them too!
At JCP, we do not just teach subjects, we help young children to develop the skills to grow. JCP is pleased to be able to offer pastoral support in areas including:
- Emotional Awareness
- Self-esteem
- Anger
- Separation Anxiety
- Sleep problems
- Loss and Grief
- Separation and Divorce
- Friendships
Our Pastoral Support Team offers a listening ear to our children who may be feeling sad, angry, are having anxious thoughts, or are just feeling “wobbly”. We help them recognise, understand, manage, and express challenging emotions in our fabulous Nurture Room, a homely, calm environment away from the classroom. Support is given on a 1:1 basis or in a small group depending on need.
How does my child access support through the Pastoral Team?
If you would like your child to receive some wellbeing support, please speak with your child’s class teacher in the first instance. Parents can also email Mrs Gerry Gray directly on g.gray@jcp.sch.je
Support for Families
As well as supporting children as individuals, we pride ourselves on the support we give our families. We believe that an open and honest relationship with families is key. If you need support as a family or as an adult, please email Mrs Gray on g.gray@jcp.sch.je
Parenting Support Services
Parenting Support Services work with teams in Primary and Secondary schools across the island to deliver the Triple P (Positive Parenting Programme).
The programme offers ideas to help deal with the big and small parenting challenges that are part of family life. It is designed to help parents and carers of children and teenagers up to 18 years. A programme for parents and carers of children with special needs is also available.
Triple P does not tell you how to be a parent but offers a range of strategies for you to choose the ones that fit your family. Triple P Positive Parenting programmes help you:
- build a positive relationship between you and your child
- raise happy, confident children and teenagers
- manage behaviour in a positive way
- set family rules and routines that everyone follows
- get along better with your children or teenagers
- balance work and family commitments
